Before I continue arguing I would like to know the same thing as RubenSonny - compared to which eras exactly?

I agree, even though I think the 90’s welterweights tend to be a bit overrated by some.

I agree.. The best 2 guys in the division aren't even full fledged welters.. It's better than the division 10 years ago with spinks and Judah, but historically it's rather average

Let’s say the 60’s then - it beats the current era both in terms of having better fighters at the absolute top as well as being deeper.

Griffith, Rodriguez, Cokes, Ortega, Fernandez, Dupas, Paret, Thompson, Curvis, Jordan, Hayward, Moyer, Logart, and Stable were all part of a rock-hard division during early-to-mid 60’s - with Napoles, Ernie Lopez, Lewis, and Backus coming into prominence towards the end of the decade.

It’s just an insanely strong era from top-to-bottom, and past-prime versions of Mayweather, Pacquiao and Marquez aren’t nearly enough to swing the pendulum in favour of today's division in my opinion.

I can honestly not even see how they're comparable, let alone stronger than the 60's field.

That's not an era of welterweights that's a copy and paste of one years ratings by ring, that really isn't comparing an era of welterweights that's ****** as ****.

If you wanna do it like that why not compare it to 1979, 1980, 1997-1999? Even with your ****** boxrec warrior methods those years **** on this era and they aren't even the best, its clear you have no idea what you are talking about.

Does Hopkins make Fitzsimmons look like a fool? Depends on the era you've got them fighting in. Under today's rules (way shorter fight, way bigger gloves) I give it to Hopkins. But not otherwise.

How would a longer (scheduled for more than 12 rounds) fight benefit Fitzsimmons?
