WILLIE PEP, BEST Pure Boxing Skills ??,

Question - I think Willie PEP is probably the Greatest of The Pure BOXERS Since Benny LEONARD. Both in Skills and on RECORD. No need to mention his record. Here's a Link To a great Doco on Willie, it has VERY rare footage and shows his incredible speed and skill.
Do you agree ?? where in the top 6 (or not). DISCUSS..

Depends on what you say is 'pure' boxing had this discussion with quite a few people and they all say different things, if anything I would say Willie Pep had quite an unorthodox / unique style, wouldn't that mean he is the opposite of pure ?.

Benny Leonard as mentioned is definitely up there I'd say though depending again on your definition.

No I don't care too much about orthodoxy.... more about his ability to hit and not get hit, Speed, ring intelligence, the fact that his record shows how effective he was. That video jusy shows all this plus his films.

I'd personally have Robinson #1 but Pep is certainly up there as is Benny Leonard. Pernell Whitaker deserves a shout too.

Pep was a remarkable boxer. Before his injury he was nearly unbeatable.

I alway's had him high, a Top 5 ATG-P4P out of the filmed fighters. But that doco on him is incredible, footage of a prime Pep, incredibly fast of hand, head and feet. He literally couldn't be beat at his weight. I had only seen him when starting to wane against Saddler and Ray Famechon,........ after seeing that footage (there's a link on the first page),... I can see why his record was so phenomenal, if he ain't the best since Leonard, then he IS The White Robinson,........ a regular Snow-Jangles.
