Was Chavez past prime by the time of the whitaker fight?

He had bean a pro for 13 years and had been in plenty of wars.....

my veiw was that he was buthe was certainly not shot and if they had faught during their primes it would have been a close fight and i would still give pernell and edge...

what do u guys think and at what point do u guys think he started to slow down....

also plenty of people over rated chavez but i think allot of poeple under rate him too.....

    ur thoghts

The fight should have been a disqualification or it should have been a run away decision for Chavez with 3 or 4 points taken from Whitaker.

If he seemed slower it was because he was fighting at Welterweight and his natural weight-class was Lightweight. That's a wash though as Whitaker's natural weight was Lightweight as well.....and Whitaker lost speed as he put on weight too.
