How good was Mando Ramos

Growing up in LA gave me a good look at Ramos. He was a media darling and a legit draw at the gate based on his good looks and exciting style. But the truth is that he never lived up to his potential and drugs sent his career spiraling downhill fast. I saw him fight Arturo Pineda live at the Olympic Auditorium in his last major fight (I'm saying this without looking it up). It was a pathetic performance and Ramos was taken out in the mid rounds by someone with half his talent. Mando had a big upper body with bird legs. His fights with Frankie Crawford (first one) and Sugar Ramos were classic action fights.

Also, if you saw the film "American Me" you'll never forget the name Mando Ramos.

He was good for his era where world titles= more like national titles. he'd get his nachas whupped in today's much much deeper, world wide talent pool.
