There's a name I'm not too faniliar with, here's a few more classics like AEthelbald, Egbert (still a classic), Thorkell the Tall, Alfwierd (weird?), Archibald (still used), Baldwine (Bald-Weener,.. how good is that ?), Ecgbeard, Hwaetmund & Coenwulf ( lot's of Wulfs ),..... I know Thorkell was a Dane,..... but he Served Edward and how is it possible to go past such an awesome name,...... The Saxon names can be difficult to say, you would probably do better with them than I, but all vowels and consonants must sound even a g on the end. English changed it's pronounciation towards French after the conquest.

Thorkel or Torkel is also used as a name here, today. My cousin's friend is named Torkel. Not much of a name if you ask me, rofl.

I don't Know about that, I think your cousins name is cool,.... is he tall ???...... anyway I was going to ask you what the name means but then I noticed THOR in the name,............. ....... NOW THAT'S COOL,..... Your cousins got a movie named about him !!!,....... Old Thorkell The Tall was a very great warrior, and started out I think with Sven Forkbeard, and then for some reason they had a falling out. Thorkell worked for AEthelred the Unread, a more weak and de****able King is hard to imagine,..... and I think but am not quite sure that the Massacre of the Danes in the Danelaw made Thorkell go over to the Godwinssons,..... at least I hope so,.... I'd hate to think he had anything to do with that Massacre that caused the downfall of Anglo Saxon England later on (It set irreversible events in action).......... Would Thorkell help in a cowardly peacetime atrocity of his own people ?????...... hard to imagine. Thorkel lived to a very advanced age and I think he's a legend because he followed his conscience, he usually fought for the right causes,..... He is a central figure in English history....... I'm enjoying this discussion.

I never met him, but I remember him fighting. Especially his jumping up from light heavy and upsetting James Tillis. So he was a character out of the ring too?

I'd say Kostya Tszyu would make a good Viking (not one of those crazy nutter types). He's calm, intelligent, kicks ass when he has to, and dependable when the chips are down. And he's used to travelling.

I can imagine Carl Froch and Tomasz Adamek making good Vikings. They're both brave as hell and would fight anyone, but keep their cool outside the ring. Froch would look badass in Viking gear.
