but mostly using larger gloves can help you learn and condition you to throwing more powerful shots.
I think if you take the gloves away from the boxer, you take away a big part of what makes it possible for him to punch as hard as he does in the first place and something will have to come off his punches. True, he will still punch harder than a cage or street fighter... but just not as hard as with his gloves.

Sorry, but the street fights I have been in....there's been no time for thinking. Thinking in a street fight usually means you're gonna get your ass kicked.
Old thread but I saw some good karma on my post so I came back...

      Sorry but I disagree.

Number one problem with any street fight is what you just said "I dont have time to think"

This "time to think" argument is weak, you have time to think, just a lot less.

Composure is what wins a dumb street fight. It is the guy who is breathing easy and focusing that wins a fight, apart from the odd fight where guys are swinging wild and someone connects and someone drops.

It's just like the day you sparred for the first time, being all nervous and trying to do too much or freezing and doing nothing at all.

If your not thinking your fighting wild, and it does not take much mental capacity to realize that you dont need to load 100%, and just hit at 70%

You will have much more success landing not easy half power punches then trying to take a man out with one bomb.

Your fist is bare, in front of you 80% of the time is an untrained, semi drunk or thinks he's tough bum, landing a nice hard jab on the nose is all thats needed.

But a bare fist is more destructive, and needs less power to do more damage.... bare knuckle fights usually ended with both guys with badly cut and busted up faces... hows that for the bare knuckle argument, and don't for get that Sullivan had won a couple of bare-knuckle bouts with very early KO's..... and he's not the only one.
