1.McFarland way to clever for Hoya.

2.Buchanan just tough enough over 15 rounds to box well behind the jab to a UD.

    3. Tough one to predict. Ike Williams was very strong good technical puncher with some boxing skills to boot, this versus the counter punching of Joe Gans. For my money Joe Gans is a bit too slick and counters punches him way to a Split decision in a fight so close it requires a rematch.

    4. You have too many names here, So I'll just make it Joe Brown vs Mandell. Joe Brown UD.

Semi1: Macfarland vs Buchanan - Macfarland a bit too clever for Buchanan here in a boring fight. Competitive UD for Macfarland

Semi2: Joe Gans vs Joe Brown: Again Joe Gans closely.

Final: Macfarland vs Gans. MacFarlands clever style would frustrate Gans at first. Joe Gans is clever enough to work round this though and starts to score around round 5. The action continues all the way to the final bell and Joe Gans hand is raised is a decision which is surprisingly wide, as it a close fight overall but, on a rounds basis Gans takes it.
    12-7-1 type decision for Gans.

I wanted Mandell there, but opted for one more modern fighter instead. I forgot to erase Mandell,..... But How would Sammy go against these guys ????

Think you are about **** on there Barn. Can't see beyond Gans overall but I think Ike wasn't served well by the draw and might well have made the final

Agreed, it's always a shame when you get the winners in the first round.

Being Scottish it happens in most World Cups
