  • Your fav color commentary dream team?

If you could mix and match any commentators from the past or present, who would you prefer?

My dream team would be Barry Tompkins, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Nick Charles RIP.. Although I'm not the biggest Leonard boxing fan, I thought he was amazing as a commentator. I also thought Kevin Rooney did a great job on the Chavez-Ramirez telecast...

Roy Jones and George Foreman. They'd clash on so much and with both of their accents, it would be certified hilarious.

          Howard Cosell for hype.

          Roy Jones Jr. for accuracy.

          George Foreman for mistakes.

Just imagine all three at the same time.

Dunphy and Bernstein. But I do appreciate your shout out to the very underrated Barry Tompkins.

Me too. I was watching Chavez-Ramirez and I thought "oh boy, it'll be a long night." But he ended up winning me over pretty quick.

Speaking of Tompkins, I recall him being on HBO for years and then all of a sudden there was Lampley. Why did he leave HBO? I thought he was a much more entertaining commentator than Lampley...

Lampley was a much higher profile announcer having been on the major networks. HBO considered him an upgrade over Tompkins based on name value.
