        Sigh. A depressing matchup.

I really like Chavez, but Ive always been realistic about him. Hearns was the type of fighter that could take some ATGs and make them look average, or even worse, like cannon fodder. Unfortunately, this would be one of those moments.

I think Chavez would last a few more rounds, like two or three, than Duran or Cuevas simply because of his chin and the fact that he would straight up bull his way in with more pressure than they did. but ultimately, the answer is obvious. Hearns by stoppage.
Awww hell, Chavez wouldnt beat Trinidad at WW. Hearns!? Chavez would die in that ring.
I believe Chavez vs Trinidad is up for debate, however.

Most, if not all of you guys think that Hearns would destroy him. I see your points as on paper it appears as though it's a bad stylistic fight for Julio. But, don't underestimate Chavez. He didn't obtain one of the best, if not the best boxing record in history for no reason. His chin was like granite, had excellent power, speed and stamina. Tommy doesn't have a bad chin but not the greatest, either. He was somewhat of a smaller version of Lennox Lewis without the over-cautiousness.

I still think this is up for debate. If Tommy comes in bombs away he may leave himself open as he did against Hagler and Barkely. And a young Chavez at welterweight was like a strong bull that always had the capability to take you out. Look at his fights with Alli, Camacho, and Haugen. But on the other hand, if Tommy comes in with a strong boxers mentality and keeps Chavez at bay with his jab I'm not sure Chavez would have the answer to that. It could go either way... PICK 'EM

It's no match whatsoever, & it's not debate to say Chavez has the greatest resume ever --- or even a top-10 of all-time. He doesn't (though it is a fine record).

This isn't just about styles. It's size, too. Speed. Range. Power. On & on. Hearns knocks his head into the third row. He really does.

Its not a bad stylistic matchup. Its the fact that they aren't in the same weight class. One guy is a HUGE welterweight and the other is an average sized light welter. You might as well be asking Ricardo Lopez vs Nikolay Valuev

First of all, a young Chavez wasn't even close to a welterweight. And if you saw JCC stand next to Iran Barkely, you'd know why Barkley's punches were so much more dangerous. This is simply a mismatch.

Hearns would beat Chavez the way Randall did, only worse, IMO.

When Hearns decks Chavez like Randall did, Chavez might not have get up.

Hearns by late TKO, w/ Chavez finishing on his feet, but totally beaten.
