    Bobby Chacon tribute

A warrior, a fighter, a boxer. Bobby Chacon epitomised all these three words, names, classifications, epithets. Bobby Chacon was what boxing once was and should be. The definition of exciting, brawling BOXER. There have been some aftercomers or successors since, Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward are the most obvious examples. Like Chacon, they really lived, breathed and bled for boxing. But still, Bobby was greater than both Gatti and Ward. He was a boxer, not just brawler. His wars with Limon and Boza Edwards are an encyclopedic example of brutality, boxing savvy and courage. In other words, they had it ALL! That the 2 of the most famous fights came one after another says something also. The courage, skill and toughness he displayed in those 2 fights alone made him a worthy hall of famer imo.

Even his wife's suicide couldn't keep him from fighting. You just gotta admire that. Like Vinny Paz, you could cripple him and he'd still yearn to get back in the ring.

Leave that junk in the nsb. I am a Pacquiao fan and I was watching boxing before you were concieved.

Chacon was a great warrior. Have to wonder how much money he would make if he fought today with his style and heart. I believe he would be a super star in todays time. Those battles he had with Edwards and Limon would be fights of the year material.

Wauw. Must have been great. The fight divided the city didn't it? Who where you rooting for?

It was a major local fight, but the two fighters got along very well so the rivalry was friendly. The rivalries that got real heated were usually with Mexicans vs Mexican-Americans. I was definitely rooting for Lopez, who may be my favorite fighter ever.
