Lyle-Shavers was an incredible fight. On the other hand, it is by far the least significant (or seen) fight on this poll.

Factoring replay value, its Lyle-Shavers. A see-saw battle above the rest.

In the moment though, nothing in this poll tops Holmes-Cooney. Every time Cooney neared him, people held their breath.

never understood how holyfield vs tyson won FOTY with fights like barrera vs mckinney, gatti vs rodriguez. The fight was pretty one sided and alot of wrestling

I agree. Tyson vs Holyfield probable wasn't even a top 5 fight that year.

Out of the four fights listed, probably Ron Lyle vs Earnie Shavers.

              Fun memories

I voted for Holmes vs Cooney for a funny reason. Me, a buddy or mine and his dad went to Wheeling, WVa to watch it on PPV or whatever it was called back then. I'd say that easily, at least 95% of all the guys there were yelling "Cooney-Cooney-Cooney!" the whole fight. My cheers of "Larry!" were drowned out totally. Except for when Holmes stopped Gerry. The crowd quieted down to listen to what had & was happening. Since it was quieter then any time since we got there, I stood up, faced the crowd behind me and started chanting "Larry! Larry! Larry!". This was also accompanied by my hands moving like a music conducter. The guys I came with were yanking on me to sit down so we don't get killed. But there were a lot of people laughing and many actually chimed in with me.

Personally to watch, Shavers vs Lyle was my favorite fight of the choices listed.
