    Moore/Patterson Fight Nov. 30, 1956

    Hi again,

I have another question about the Moore-Patterson title fight in 1956.

Can anyone tell me if they used different refs for each under card bout or did one referee work the whole night?

Also, and this is really a stretch, does anyone know who performed the national anthem at that event?

Did they use individual singers or military bands, or what?

    Thanks so much,

I know that the referee for the Main Event was Frank Sikora who also refereed the Floyd-Liston and Floyd-London fights, Marciano-Walcott and some of Sugar Ray Robinson's fights.

Win Elliot was color commentator and Don Dunphy did the radio broadcast.

Archie Moore was 12-5 favourite coming into the fight. Plus the mandatory 8 count had been waved for this bout.

I don't know any further details.

I'm writing a story about a young boxer in New York during the fifties and I want my details to be as accurate as possible.

In the story he attends the Moore-Patterson fight at Chicago Stadium.

        Thanks for your interest.

What I'm curious about is that if Patterson was rated for the Light Heavyweight, he seemed to have beaten a few good ones.
