Which would make it even more impressive if his chin holds up for 12 rounds.

            Shane's got a granite chin

it's proven to be as sturdy as any other man boxing today.

vernon forrest was a big puncher in his prime
he got great leverage on that right hand and he was very fast and very strong

we'll see how well it holds up through the twilight of his career, and make an evaluation accordingly. tonight's going to say plenty about it.
right now i'd have a real hard time naming 100 men with better chins
i'm not saying it cant be done
i'm saying i'd have a real hard time naming 100 of them

his fights with cotto, de la hoya 1, even mayweather jump to mind
he took flush shots and combinations on the grill that would have sent almost any WW home early in each of those fights

especially considering his best work was done as a LW, i give him the nod of having a spectacular chin

            he's just a durable dude.

unfortunately, he's aging, and doesn't have a ton of craft in terms of getting out of the way of punches
he used to rely almost exclusively on sharper reflexes and upperbody and head movement to get out of the way of punches

i don't want to see him hurt or stopped
if he does, it shouldn't muddle the fact that he had a world class set of whiskers throughout his best days
i've got some e-casche on him not getting stopped tonight

I'd say he's got just as good a chin as any I've seen. He has fought some tremendous competition. He has fought all the best fighters and at different ages. Truly a fantastic chin.
