I disagree with SCOTT and the rest. Chapo could never have taken CAMACHO to a disputed decision loss, a decision I scored for CHAPO 115-113 personally, if he hadn't developed fully as a boxer. No, the case is simply that he went up against some very tough and very good guys and didn't win always. Ramirez got to him in the rematch and Chavez was just too good/strong for him. He was already past prime when he lost to Nazario. He had problems with drugs also I believe. I think its a shame he never fought Whitaker, doesn't matter if you think he'd have no chance, it would still be exciting to see this matchup.

Going in I thought that fight was a toss up. It turned out to be (IMO) the best performance of JCC's career.

I wonder if Chapo was really at his best that night...

Maybe not, but he looked just totally outclassed in that match.

If not, it would have to be mighty close to it. Chavez just mugged him.

He was the best prospect I'd ever seen. He certainly did not live up to the amazing potential he had, but still had a phenomenal and highly entertaining career. Definitely one of the hardest punchers in history, and his KO of Bramble is one of the most awesome offensive displays I've ever seen- hitting the iron-chinned Bramble with beautiful textbook bombs from every angle.

Imo Chapo was at his most impressive against Camacho. Macho was one of the fastest boxers in history and had also boxing skills that few had at the time and Chapo gave him such a beating in some rounds, especially the 5th. I had Rosario winning 115-113, scored the 5th 10-8 for him. He was also quite impressive in dispatching Bramble in only 2 rounds, something nobody had done previously and I'm not sure if ever did it since. He could look a total beast on his best nights and sluggish at his worst, like against Chavez. The second fight with Ramirez is a classic as well. One can say that its possible he punched himself out in that fight.

Rosario at his absolute best could not have handled Julio Cesar Chavez that night. Very few 135lbers in history could have- it was one of the most impressive performances I've ever witnessed.
