      Jim Blackburn

Blackburn taught/trained Joe Louis. He molded a raw amateur into perhaps the greatest fighting machine of all time. Charlie Goldman likewise molded a wild, pudgy Rocky Marciano into a hard, deceptively clever slugger with unlimited stamina. Ray Arcel, Cus D'Amato are right up there too. Jack Doc Kearns took Dempsey to the top, instilled a confidence and a style that made him a worldbeater and an all time great. As for Dundee, I don't see it, but he did train 15 world's champions. That is not an accident. But he was given such fantastic raw material, maybe any decent trainer could have done it. Not sure about him but the great ones make something hard look easy. Maybe that's the case with Dundee. And of course Eddie Futch. A great trainer and great human being. Very caring man. One of the few straight shooters ever to sign a boxing contract.

Was Kearns trainer?? I thought he was only manager/promotor.

What do you mean by that? Who would you say trained Ali then?

I think Freddie Brown is one of the great trainers who never get mentioned. He was more of a cornerman in fights, but did a lot of the nitty gritty stuff when it came to training fighters, especially in the Brown/Arcel team, which is undoubtedly the greatest training team.

Arcel though has to be the greatest trainer. He knew how to train fighters to be what they naturally were and make them great with what they had, whether brains, brawn or a bit of both.

              Kearns

Kearns was a teacher, not a conditioner. But he pretty much developed Dempsey's bob and weave style. Or at least he perfected it.

Ray Arcel comes to mind first, Cus was great too but it was one style with him really.

To be fair i think the fighters make the trainer as much as anything. If an absaloute natural with lead for fists walks into ur gym then boom ur a championship trainer.

Manny Steward was great for Lewis not so much for Klitchko. I say that because despite Wlads dominance its not Manny making it happen. Wlad barely listens to him, u'll hear Steward go bannanas at Wlad "Take this muther ****er out! Punch! Let ur hands go!" and 5 rounds later Wladomir will still be there jabbing his man to death

I dont give Dundee much credit for Ali either, Ali was his own man and just did his thing regardless of Dundee

                Roach is damn good.

And **** it i'll take heat for this but if i turned pro today id want Adam Booth in my corner god damn it! lol
