  • Andrew Golota vs Gerry Cooney

this is an interesting fight. I think Golota is the superior boxer. But he is vulnerable early and gerry cooney was a fast starter and a great left hook. I think 6 out of 10 times golota would win by late tko. but its a tough fight.

Will low blows be a factor? If Golota got out of the first round he might wear Cooney down but I doubt Golota would survive that initial round.

I think Cooney weathers an early Golota storm and stops him late. Golota fell apart if he couldn't get someone out early and they were still fighting back hard, and Cooney hit too hard for someone to have self doubts. If Grant (who had a glass chin) could, i think Coonney does too.

Cooney could kayo Golota within the first three rounds, but if he doesn't manage to do it, then Andrew decisions Gerry over ten.

Cooney by DQ. Golota would be able to outbox Cooney for a while, but would lapse and get hurt by Cooney's left hooks. whenever Golota is hurt, he turns into a foul machine. excessive headbutts and low blows leads to a DQ.

If you bet against Golota whenever he fought a top heavyweight, you'd have cashed in every single time. Cooney by early KO.

he arguably beat Byrd and Ruiz though.

Golota was a good fighter, just...a nutjob.
