I have a slight feeling Marciano would win, due to his stronger legs and shorter reach. Dempsey actually did his best against big guys, partially due to his good ability to get within their reach. I think every time the fight got close, which it would a lot since Dempsey fell into clinches fairly often, Marciano would use his stronger legs to push Dempsey off and go to work, which would be easier for him with his shorter arms. also one of Marcianos better punches was his uppercut, which overall seemed like the punch to use against Dempsey. Marciano also chopped a lot with his punches, which is sometimes a good thing for a person who primarily uses their shoulders and head movement for their head defense.

Marciano would beat the version of Dempsey that fought Gibbons, but to be fair Dempsey was coming off a long layoff in the Brennan fight.

He would have to walk through a lot of punishment to get the fight to the late rounds to win.

Dempsey over Marciano? That's crazy talk! Marciano holds the record for most damaging punch in gloved boxing. What's important about the Carmine Vingo fight is the type of hemorrhage caused. Marciano broke the kids skull. Keeping that in mind, and knowing the style of fighter Dempsey is there's no way he could beat Marciano. He'd need to be the stronger man, and I believe Marciano is much stronger than Dempsey. More over looked evidence of Marciano's devastation is the number of boxers who quit after facing Marciano. The truth is when facing Rocco the it is probable that your going to be knocked out, and when you wake up it's likely that the experience was brutal enough to make you quit the sport. Dempsey would simply be bullied by the meaner bully.

Your boy puts up a good fight and probably puts Dempsey on the ground more than once. But look at the skill and speed advantages for Dempsey. Marciano tries to land bombs, Dempsey peppers you with machine gun fire. On the inside, he would outwork and outland Marciano and it's not like he's a featherfist.

To the point, Dempsey would hit Marciano harder & swifter than he'd ever been struck. It would be a harder test for Marciano's whiskers & recuperative powers than he could ultimately overcome, IMO.

Dempsey does the business in a half dozen or so of the most exciting rounds ever seen at any weight, with Marciano putting up a gutsy fight, but ultimately he's just over-matched here.

He took such a bad beating in that fight, I really don't understand how the neutral corner rule didn't come in earlier.
Im with u man, its a savage rule! Im against it. I often wonder tho how history would differ if we had it now or even if we Never had it, Tyson would love that rule.

Would Marquez have went the distance and got a draw with Pacman? Doubt it

Would Tunney have beaten Dempsey as there would have been no long count?
