  • Good Defense = Slick?

Does having a good defense automatically make a fighter slick?

I look at Wink Wright, impenetrable guard type of defense, and he doesn't come across as slick to me.

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones weren't defensive wizards, but they come across more slick than Winky or Clottey.

No and the person I came in here to mention was Winky but you've beat me to it already .

Slick is a word that is very vague. Mines probably isn't the dictionary definition but, a slick fighter to me is someone who has perfected their style and makes very little mistakes and this is just more noticable in defensvie fighters.

Slick to me just means you make it look easy. Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather, James Toney, they're slick. Tyson and Winky are not. They look like they're really working at it.

I think he was slick but I'm not gonna argue.

My definition of slick is a fighter who makes you miss and kicks ass at the same time, so imo defense is only 50% of it, ie the fine art of hitting without being hit. I'd say there's probably a lot more defensive spoilers than there are slicksters.

Slick just means you can make you opponent miss.
