    James Toney vs Julian Jackson

    Why it didn't happen:
While Don King has been lobbying for Julian Jackson to fight the winner of the I.B.F. middleweight title fight on Aug. 29 between James Toney and Mike McCallum, Seth Abraham, who handles the boxing promotions of Home Box Office as well as pay-per-view telecasts on TVKO, said he was pointing Terry Norris toward that spot. Abraham views Norris, the W.B.C. superwelterweight champion, as "loyal" to HBO and deserving of the shot, if he wants it.

The subtext is that King, who jettisoned HBO for Showtime, is not about to get a favor if Abraham can help it, even if King has publicly stated he would allow Jackson to fight the Toney-McCallum winner on HBO. King's reaction? "He shouldn't be so narrow-minded. I want to see the Seth of old."

Julian was a very good fighter with insane power but Toney is a Master, he beats Jackson up and stops him late-ish!

James also had a great chin so even with Jackson power he would really have to catch James sweet to get him in trouble

I think the fight plays out like McCallum-Jackson. If McCallum had the power to stop him at jmw then Toney definitely has the power to stop him at mw. It would of been great while it lasted shame it didn't happen

IMO Toney stops him in around 9, too skillful. Although Jackson is one of if not maybe the hardest puncher I have ever seen.

James did not have great power, his strength was skill. I'd take James over Jackson by decision........Rockin'

He had enough pop to hurt McCallum, so he definately has enough to stop Jackson. I think he wears him down with right hand counters stops him around round 8

Toney would stop him, virtually no other possible result.

in my opinion theres only a handfull of fighters that could have beaten james toney in his prime middle weight days....and right now the only 2 that come to mind are roy jones and marvin hagler, maybe the sugar rays aswell but other than that it would be a strech
