Meldrick Taylor vs Chavez I: what are your thoughts on this fight?

Incredible fight and a GOOD stoppage. With only 10 seconds left in the fight Chavez could have easily landed 8-10 more shots on an already weary and badly battered Taylor. Error on the side of safety, but Steeles stoppage was no error. Taylor never really recovered from that fight and another 10 seconds of punishment from the hard fists of Chavez could have literally ended the career of Taylor right there if not his life.........Rockin'

I also blame Duve for giving Taylor those ridiculous instructions and jumping on the apron

Fuck knows what Duva was thinking, telling him they needed that round.
That fight ended Taylor on all levels, mentally and physically.

Who I blame, in no particular order:
Taylor: his lack of defense. Ducking every now and then is not defense
Duva: jumping on the apron, bad instructions before the round
Steele: should of given Taylor another chance to respond to his question and made sure that Chavez was in a neutral corner

Originally posted by IronMike* View PostHe did respond, when he got up he nodded to Steele that he was o.k, before getting distracted by Duva
Originally posted by IronMike* View PostI haven't watched any of his fights directly after that one, but didn't he become a world champ again?

In between getting knocked down against overmatched opponents, yeah he got another belt. As soon as he went back in there against a legit opponent he got knocked out. JC ruined him.
