This depends on wether Foreman is aloud to use "Illegal-Tactics" like he was aloud to use against Frazier... If yes he would KO Rocky, if not then Rocky has a huge chance of KOing Foreman once George runs out of gas.
How big of a chance would you give Marciano against Foreman?

Dempsey had more early-round blow-outs than Marciano did, & fought generally better opposition across the board.Comment

maybe it wasnt the best division ever, but who exactly did Dempsey beat that was legendary?
his best win is arguably over Sharkey, and that was due to a low-blow hit on the break combo in a fight he was losing.Comment

Rocky gets stopped, he's a different fighter to Frazier but i see the fight being simalar to Foreman vs Joe. Foreman has a big strength adantage along with the size difference and he is even the puncher, Rocky has the wrong style for a Big Bomber like GeorgeComment

Let's not forget that if you were asked this question after Foreman first retired you would probably pick Marciano to knock him out... It wasn't until his comeback that he was talked about as an ATG heavyweight. I know this because I started a thread a while back and many reputable posters mentioned that he was never talked about in an ATG way until his return to boxing.
Rocky could knock George Foreman out and I am different from you in that I think George has the wrong style and lacks the tools necessary for Rocky...Comment

wait, what? Marciano's opponents, even Don ****ell and Archie Moore(after his win over Nino Valdez, who had been highly rated for a long time), were rated at the very top of the Heavyweight division when he fought them. (Walcott#1x2, Charles #2x2, LaStarza #7, ****ell #2, Moore #1, Louis #1).

Thats a good point I have seen his fights vs Louis, Charles, Moore, Walcott all ATGs and ****el and LaStarza. Not really any of his other fights though. He beat the ATGs when they were older, but not that many boxers have wins over prime ATGs. I don't know if his resume is better then Dempsey's because I have not really studied him that much. But I think his resume is better then a lot of Heavyweights.

At one point I looked into all those things because I wanted to know if the atgs Marciano fought were as washed up as some people say. I did not see much evidence of it and in the fights they looked good. Even Louis was a odds on faviorite to beat Marciano at the time. But Marciano seems to get singled out for fighting Atgs past prime. And some times for beating smaller men like Walcott, Moore, Charles, while if you look at them in the ring they were about the same size or even bigger then Marciano.Last edited by Holtol; 01-10-2011, 01:23 PM.Comment

Marciano never showed he could prevail against a 6'4" 225lb slugger who hit like a Mack truck. Rocky wasn't as crude as he's made out to be but he was hardly Willie Pep (or Jimmy Young) and he wasn't Ali either. Rocky was the best of his era and contrary to myth he didn't duck Valdes or Patterson, but going life and death with older, smallish heavyweights is not a good indicator for a Foreman fight. I find it hard to imagine any 185lber walking through Foreman's best. At some point Rocky walks into a bomb and that's that.Comment

Rocky Marciano is hardly Jimmy Young? That's funny. I agree that he is not Jimmy Young, but obviously not in the same context as you....Comment
