I rate Monzon the greatest middleweight of all time, maxim was a top fighter from his era but not a all time great lightheavyweight well he wouldnt make my top ten lightheavyweights. I say Monzon goes one better than robinson and beats maxim on points

If a slipping Robinson can easily beat Maxim until being KO'd by the heat then I think Monzon can do the same with a comfortable UD. Monzon never had fast hands so i don't think he would lose much speed increasing weigtht as he was never speedy and he would use his ring-craft to get a comfortable decision.

Tough fight. Monzon brings few of the same advantages even a bloated Robinson did to the ring. Most of what caused Maxim trouble that night wouldn't be present here. By the same token, Robinson had problems with men who were both stronger than he, & willing to engage that strength advantage at close-quarters. It is difficult to say either way with Monzon --- he never stepped up in weight, & for his day, was a very big Middleweight who virtually always enjoyed a size & subsequent strength advantage.
I'm always a bit leary of the fellow who never stepped out of his own weight zone tackling a formidable fighter from higher up. Tszyu, Hagler, Monzon. You always wonder if the spectre of self-doubt played a role in their decisions. Monzon was once my #1 all-timer at 160lb. (currently #2), but Maxim is a very under-rated fighter in some ways...ways which may be significant to this fight.
Give me Monzon on points, but warily. Maxim is a very good chance, here.
