  • most knockdowns/jack johnson question

So I am watching a documentary about Jack Johnson (Unforgivable Blackness, if you like boxing history check it out.) and I just got to a part where they said he knocked down I wanna say a guy named Joe Grimm? 20 times before beating him. I guess I was wondering if anyones heard this claim and also what is the most knockdowns you've heard in a fight? I have trouble believing in 20 but if the guy was white I doubt the ref would wave it off.

Someone made a thread about Joe Grimm not too long ago. He was more of a freak show than a boxer. He was a side-show attraction because he couldn't be knocked out. Johnson fought him for recognition to improve his name.

Nelson was floored 9 times but Williams was down on 42 occasions. The fight ended with Nelson winning by KO in round 17 after 51 KD's.

The most knockdowns ever were in Jeanette Mcvey, with over 40 if I remember correctly. I know Jeanette himself went down well over 20 times.

I think. I'm not entirely sure, but I rmeembere reading that in abook awhile ago. I think it was Sugar's Boxing's Greatest Fighters. The section on Jeanette pretty much talks only about his Mcvey battle.
