  • What areas were Sugar Ray Robinson's "weaknesses"?

What areas of his game paled in comparison to all the other gifts he had?

I've heard he couldn't fight too well circling towards the right, had an average jab for a tall man, didn't have much of a defense, couldn't fight on the inside so well, and lacked physical strength.

I'm no expert on the Sugar Man, but I am a fan.

Well I'd say his defence wasn't one of his strongest points, compared to the other area's he excelled in.

Robinson could take a shot and knew it. And didn't mind a tear up when needed.

I would say his defense is the only weakness that comes to mind. Who ever told you he had a poor jab or couldn't fight on the inside must be blind. His jab was a missile and he got hit a lot on the inside, but he hit a lot back. His accuracy was CRAZY, especially with his uppercuts.

In his comeback career he was all-too willing to mix it up, sacrificing defense to trade. Also he was vulnerable to losing points on flash knockdowns.
