Both were known as the Greatest of all time for years. Dempsey in the 1950s-1970s and Johnson from the 1930s-1940s. There isn't much film available of Johnson other than chopped and crappy quality black and white films so it's hard to judge, but I think Dempsey takes the win.

I personally think it will be a close fight and if being judged fairly Johnson wins the decision. I think it will look like a much closer version of Johnson vs Jeffries.

Dempsey and Jeffries are nothing alike...

How would Johnson handle the incredible speed and power of Dempsey? How would he land clean shots with Dempsey's superb head movement and footwork?

Surely a fight where Jeffries had been retired for 6 years and had to lose upwards of 80 pounds is a poor measuring stick, especially when the similarities between him and Dempsey are next to nil.

Dempsey has a big chance early, but the fight would shift in Johnson's favour if he lasts past 4 rounds.

Dempsey hardly wanted for endurance, grit, or chin. He was dangerous at all times.

dempsey, for alot of reasons is my favorite fighter, but johnson i think was the best heavyweight ever. i think johnson keeps jack honest on the outside and clinches and smoothers jack on the inside in a very close bout and surviving some scares. but i think johnson was the best ever.

Dempsey was not that hard to find at all, and Johnson was a pretty measured, accurate puncher with a high ring IQ. If Dempsey didn't blow him out (which isn't out of the realm of possibility) then Johnson wins late after out boxing him.

I used to think the same thing about Dempsy when I watched some of his video. But after watching this short video I changed my mind he shows that he was good at slipping punches.
