British boxing: Who did more?

Hamed helped put the lower weight classes back on the radar so he did more in that sense, but in beating someone like Tszyu and twice fighting the p4p #1 Hatton did more for British boxing. Not many boxers in the world could get a live attendance of 60,000.

Hamed.
He didn't just bring boxing, he brought the whole package.
Whether you loved him or hated him, he was argubly the most exciting fighter to watch ever. Taking into account the entrances etc..
And like the Prince has said, nobody has come close to replicating what he did since!

Naz. But with reservations because I don't think he ever cared much about boxing. To him it was merely a means to an end. Naz wanted to be the big star. To drive round in fast cars. Have gorgeous women on either arm.
He never took the sport seriously. If he did we would be talking about him as one of the greatest boxers of all time.
His skills were freakish and at the time some suggested he might even eclipse Roy Jones. Definitely in my top-10 P4P hardest punchers. But his professional attitude was poor. Brendan Ingle understood him, which is why he prospered under his tutelage. But the moment he was asked to start taking things seriously (by people like Manny Steward) he began to fall apart. In the run-up to the Barrera fight he missed something like half of his training sessions - AWOL.
By then he'd made more money than he knew what to do with. Which is why he lost interest. A rich man's life simply held too many tempting distractions. It's also the reason he didn't seriously attempt to re-start his career.

I'd definitely say Hamed. Showman like that are what make people talk about boxing. Everyone else made the points I would have.

Naseem Hamed...why because he had more big fights and brought alot of attention to the FW division...there were already guys like FMJr /Gatti/Morales and Barrera but Hameds antics/speed and promotions really put british boxing on the map... (lennox lewis did as well but that was more in the HW division)
Hatton bought alot to British Boxing as well since his fights with Kostya Tszyu and also castillo , urango etc and also even though they were losses his big fight with Mayweather jr and Pac Man also before those fights attracted alot of fans from both UK and US....

I think he did care for boxing though certainly in the earlier stages of his career. Then the fame went to his head, he stopped training, split with Ingle and basically fell out of love with the sport completely.

I liked both fighters.
Over here Naseem was better known and as such lead the line for British Boxing globally.
What little I know of Hatton, he seems a great guy with a ferocious talent.
Loved his body shots.

No idea how Audley Harrison got in there and ahead of fighters such as John Conteh, Alan Minter, Michael Watson or even Amir Khan but its about opinions as all ways.
