Anyway, Pascal threw a looping right and Hopkins, trying to duck with his head down, got caught behind the ear on the side of the head and went down briefly. That is completely legal and there was nothing slightly wrong with it.
Second was obviously fine, and the others were not KDs. The third time BHop went down was from a shot behind the head. That was illegal, the first not.
The Pascal fall was just that. A tangle of legs. I thought the ref was actually very good and all the calls were perfect.
I wanna see a rematch either way. I was kind of hoping they'd do a rematch before the Dawson/Pascal one. I think we could either see Hopkins make his historic win easier or see Pascal go a bit better and continue on from the first
few rounds. Interesting rematch. If Dawson wins the fight though, I doubt Hopkins will fight him. Unlike the guy making the thread about Hopkins fighting everyone and anyone as a throwback fighter, I think he chooses his victims very carefully since his 160 days. I would too to make the most of the few opportunities left at such an age.
Hopkins has carefully selected his opponents, but he has fought legitimate threats (along with a tuneup and a couple money grabs). He's past 40!!!!!

He's also fought more tough fights than the two prima donnas on the pfp lists have in the last 5 years.

For the record, I though all the ref's calls were fair and so was the draw.

It was close to being an illegal rabbit punch, but if Hopkins' head wasn't turned down it wouldn't have hit him behind the head and would have cracked him straight on the jaw.

Hopkins habit of dropping his head to duck punches and keep his chin tucked is great defensively but it can lead to you getting caught in the side behind the ear and they are legal.

Just like Johnson/Green, if you turn your head away/down and get caught that's your own fault.
The difference is that Bernard and Jean were almost in a clinch and Pascal very clearly loops his punch to hit the back of Bernard's head. As for Bernard ducking, I don't know what you meant as before the knockdown, Bernard was not ducking, he was most likely looking to iniate a clinch when Pascal hit Bernard's head.

Johnson, on the other hand, was not clinched with Green, what he did is step to his right and deliver a perfect right hand, that hit Green with his head turned. Bernard did not turn his head.

With that said, it really shouldn't matter, cause the ref was gonna take criticism no matter what, for either call. It's hard to make a judgement that fast when we now have the ability to rewatch the respective knockdowns and judge them ourselves.

      KD around 9:20 mark.
