Apart from Ali, who else do you think could beat Sonny Liston.

Gene Tunney - would stick & move to a 15rd decision
Jack Dempsey - would sworm all over him like Hagler v Hearns KO3
Joe Frazier - Slugfest with Frazier smokin`winning via KO8
Joe Louis - precision punching for a KO13
Jack Johnson - Defensive master wins 15rd decision

If it's the same Frazier that faced Foreman, than Frazier's getting stopped in the first round.

Holmes:I would give him a good chance against Liston
Foreman:This would be a war, I think Liston edges it though

I think Holmes could basically do the same thing Ali did, though not as well.

I'm also with you on Foreman, because a prime Foreman IMO stands a great chance against any heavyweight ever. He was so dangerous at all times, not many fighters could do what Ali did.

I'd also take Holyfield and Lewis, as far as modern fighters, though not with tons of confidence.

No the Frazier who Foreman beat was as fat as a pig weighing 15lb more than he weighed against Ali in 71 i am talking Frazier from 67-71 (prime)

The, "fat pig," was anything but. The truth is, Frazier was somewhat under-done in Jamaica, but only came in eight pounds heavier than he had been for Ali. He took Foreman lightly, yes --- but he was 29-0-0, 29-years-old, a 4-1 favourite, & the undefeated, undisputed World's Heavyweight Champion.

There has been far, far too much retrospective diminishing of what a brutal, spectacular fighter Frazier was when he first fought Foreman. It was still one of the great upsets in division history, not just for the way Foreman won the bout, but the fact he won at all.

It's obvious to say Foreman had his number in hindsight, or that Frazier was ill-prepared, but almost no one even entertained Foreman's chances going into that fight.

I remember going to see that fight on closed circuit TV when I was still a teenager. It really changed the course of boxing. Going on the only two heavyweights that mattered were Frazier and Ali. It was shocking to watch. All of the sudden it was a whole new ballgame in the division.

But looking at it in retrospect, Frazier was soft going in. His peak was the first Ali fight and it was steadily downhill for him after that. I'm not looking at his record, but the only impressive win that I remember him having after Ali 1 was the Quarry rematch.
