Anywya, does Berto really blow up?He usually comes in the ring under 160 and even talked about going down to 140 a while ago.
I've seen pictures of him when he's about 175-190

Ali really tended to bloat between fights in the 1970s. He was like over 230 for Mac Foster, then 212 for Frazier, then 224 for Lyle. His weight would go up, then down, down, then up.

Damn can't remember where I found them now, I think he said he would fight some guys from 140 at a catchweight because he wanted a big fight, none at 147 seeing as Manny proably ain't gonna fight him, nobody ever knows what's up with floyd, Shane can't make 147 and even Collazo has said he can't make 147 anymore.

For which fight (prior to his 1979 retirement) was Ali heaviest? Was it against Young? I seem to remember him having to haul an awful lot of weight that night.

I think it was Mac Foster or Young. If I remember correctly, Howard Cosell said that the heaviest Ali weighed was 227 pounds when he broadcast the Ali-Lyle fight. But that was before the Jimmy Young fight so Ali might have been heavier for Young.

Except for the Berbick fight, Ali's career high weight was 230 for Young. He looked to be in poor physical condition for that awful fight.

Suprised nobody named "The old Mongoose"! He was famous for gaining and losing weight during his career. He would fight at 206 and a couple months later defend his light heavyweight title.
