Why is Lennox Lewis so hated?

Can only think of a handful of people who hate him.

A lot of people think he was a bum who went around fighting other bums which simply isn't true.

Too be honest he only has a few haters,most posters respect him as a fighter and whether they are a fan of his or not they still appreciate his accomplishments and many see him as the best HW of the last 20 years

Every fighter has haters too be honest,more often than not its the ones who have been very successful

Yeah that's my opinion of him and i am from the UK, Lewis is Canadian and has lived in Canada for the last 35yrs being inducted into the Canadian BHOF... you guys in Britain who think of Lewis as British are crazy... i rate Pacquiao and i am not a filipino i rate Martinez and i am not Argentinan, i rate J.M.Marquez and i am not Mexican i rate Floyd Mayweather and i am not american yet UK boxing fans seem to idolize any fighter from Britain regardless of his ability.. Lewis, Hatton, Calzaghe, Haye some of the quotes i have read about these fighters from UK fans are laughable and the reality of it is that they only had success by avoiding the best fighters in the world, with boxing fans worldwide seeing through them and there avoiding tactics which is why they are not labelled as ATGs... everyone is entitled to their opinion yet when it comes to UK fighters i have always found them to be vastly over rated by younger followers of this sport who follow their country man just like football supporters

Why is Lennox Lewis so hated by boxing fans.

I think partly it is because he wasn't your average loudmouth black american heavyweight champion. Also I believe that if he was American he would have been a superstar.

Respect for Lewis has grown since he's retired.

When he was in his prime, he did receive a lot of criticism, but I don't think it had anything to do with him not being a loudmouth, but he did come across as pompous at times.

And despite having some highlight reel knockouts in his career, he employed a safety first style, which wasn't well received by many fans, particularly Americans who had crowd pleasing HWs like Tyson, Holyfield, and Bowe.

I was a fan of his as a kid (I'm an American) and even more so now.

Again Lewis Is just an ATG in my opinion, didn't fight the greatest competition but, won against all he ever faced. I would have no quams someone rating Lennox as an ATG but, I think he's on the fence for Top 10 Heavyweights. On my lists he ranges from 8-12.

Who hates Lewis? Not me. I like him as a commentator. Great champion.

I liked and respected Lewis as a fighter. But his TV commentary? No thanks.
