best smw of all time, undefeated, 10 year reign as champ, numerous defences
I said RJJ is the best SMW but, whatever. It's who those wins and, defences came against not the numbers themselves.

but the fact still remains. He most of his title defenses weren't against top 10 contenders.

Dariusz Michalczewski fought a class of opponent which was vastly better than any opponent Calzaghe ever fought, Calzaghe pulled out of fighting Glen Johnson 3 times without excuse knowing that he could not beat Johnson.. pre1960 many fighters ran up a record of more than 46-0 as well as fighting the best competition in the world yet they would not make the top 100.. The best opponent Calzaghe ever fought who was not over-the-hill and years past his best like what Eubank, Jones & Hopkins was Robin Reid and Reid was robbed against Calzaghe.. as far as me being "the biggest self-hating brit on this site" you are most likely correct on that score yet i am a huge fan of British fighters pre1990 during the days of John Conteh, Charlie Magri, Frank Bruno, Barry McGuigan who was all good fighters but they never claimed to be the best in the world even tho they held world titles..Fighters like Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye, Lewis are all IMO frauds who avoided all the top fighters in the world yet masqueraded as the World Champion when in reality they was not the best... it is immaterial to me what nationality a boxer is as i base all boxers legacy's on who they fought and beat who was at "The Top of their Game".... your sad quote of how Jones beat Roy Jones reminds me of when Britain's Terry Downes beat the great Sugar Ray Robinson in London 1962... Yet Robinson is rated the greatest boxer in History and how many have ever heard of Terry Downes which is what the case will be in 20yrs time with Calzaghe.. i wont go into the Calzaghe drug taking issue.
You made absolutely no comments about Calzaghe's style of fighting and how it would be an extreme headache for most to win a decision against that workrate.

Hopkins is considered one of the best tacticians in the history of the sport and even he was dumbfounded when facing Calzaghe. Calzaghe on his best day can not be beaten. On a bad day he still manages to adjust and persevere.

Kessler, Lacy, Bika, Eubank, Roy, Hopkins, Reid,- Joe Calzaghe may have had the most impressive road' of any undefeated fighter. Dariusz is not in the same class and was KO'd by a french tomato can.

As opposed to hanging all over a fighter's nutsack BECAUSE he's from the UK? :thinking9:

Calzaghe skills overcame the bad days, and he was able to rack up 21 consecutive title defenses for 2nd most all time in the history of the sport. His style is impossible to beat. His work rate would win him the majority rounds against, Hagler, Monzon and James Toney. He already beat Hopkins and Roy Jones H2H, which puts him above both all-time.

How many fighters have more title defenses? How many have a more impressive record than 46-0? If it was so easy everyone would do it. Calzaghe is in a class by himself.
It's easy to look great when you never play outside the minor-leagues.

i have seen Calzaghe fight `live a couple of times and his style is nothing out of the ordinary like you seem to think it is.

Who is this French Tomato-Can who beat Dariusz?

Hopkins lost a split-decision to Calzaghe when in his 40s and if Hopkins had not fained injury he would have been a clear winner of that fight... Calzaghe refused a rematch in his home town with ol`Hopkins

Kessler, Lacy, Bika was all Class D fighters and it has been proven as such.
