    average fighter for the era,took to many punches to land one

      He was actually a pretty good fighter but often had problems with cuts,beat some decent fighters and lost to some average ones he was that kind of fighter.The whole incident with the Jacopucci fight was very strange

        Couldn't really hack it at the highest level. He made it there but only made one succesful defence.

        Then he lost it and it was the end of his career. He had a go. Tried to get aother title shot but couldn't make the results.

        Certainly below the likes of Hatton in terms of all time Brits. More on the level of Bruno, possibly lower.

          I'm not sure he could win a title now. I think Sturm is better and Martinez and Williams definitely are.

              Not a bad fighter by any means but probably overachieved in winning the title and a couple of his wins against Antuofermo and Finnegan were controversial. I wouldn't say Hatton was much better than him though.

                Minter was a very good classic boxer but prone to cuts. Obviously he was no match for the likes of Hagler.
