Straight right hand is probably top 10-15 all time for heavyweights. Overall I wouldn't put him anywhere near the class of Liston, Shavers, Foreman, etc. I'd put him on par with guys like Lyle, Tyson, Bruno... a big puncher but not the biggest by any means.

sometimes gets underrated because of his style imo. if he'd went straight for the kill more i'm sure he'd be regarded as an even bigger puncher

yep this. Lennox was a safetyfirst fighter, anyone who fights in that kind of style will not give you a foreman/tyson type of show. Lennox could have knocked anyone out with a right hand it it connected flush.

His default style is defensive, but if he wanted to he could hit harder than prime Tyson. Tyson was mostly speed and combinations, but Lennox could knock you silly with one over-hand right.

I rank Lennox as a Very Good puncher but not quite in the upper echelon of heavy hitters.

again you are trying to discredit Mike Tyson... Never could Lewis punch as hard as Mike Tyson, Frank Bruno fought both of them and Bruno on many occasions has said Tyson was the hardest puncher he ever fought, Lewis overwelmed Golota in one round, Tyson broke Golota's jaw in the opening round... Mike Tyson was one of the great powers of heavyweight history, Lewis wasn't.

A good but not great puncher.

I'd ssay size and ability to control range and pace were far bigger parts of his armoury than power.

He does not belong in the Shavers-Lyle-Liston-Foreman class, but he was a tremondous puncher when he wanted. I think he hit really hard, plus his overhand right was a scary scary punch, like the Frazier left hook.

Half of pain is perception, and the visual of Mike Tyson charging forward tricked a lot of opponents into being more hurt than they actually were. Mike Tyson was certainly a faster puncher, he threw better body shots, but I dont think he could generate the same RAW power as Lennox Lewis.

Lennox disposed of Razor Ruddock in only 2 rounds.

He finished Botha and Golota faster as well...

The real question we should ask is how much better would Lennox have been if he had more of a killer instinct?

A lot better imo, even Manny used to get on his case for being so defensive minded
