Pretty close. Both guys had some nice boxing skills. I'd probably give the edge to Oscar technically.

More Skilled, Hagler Or De La Hoya?

Oscar was a one handed fighter. He depended on his jab and his left hook, while Hagler was something totaly and frightening different.
I only give Oscar a speed advantage, but everything else Marvin could do better. His high guard was good, which he used occiasonoly, his punches with both hands were pretty good, well timed and hard (see his jumping right lead right hand). He had good head movement, inside fighting skills, good jabs with both hands, underated bodypunches.
Hagler, like many greats, has no real one dimensinoal-style. He was a counterpuncher, pressure figher, boxer and also puncher.

Oscar learned the basic footwork movements at a young age and pretty much mastered it by the time he was a pro. He's got slightly better footwork than Hagler in my book. Hagler's real only "skill" advantages he has are his inside fighting (amazing inside fighter) and probably a better defense when he wanted too.
The rest is pretty much Haglers physical attributes, his stamina was far superior, he was stronger, hit harder, threw more and had probably the p4p best chin of all time.
Oscar has quicker hands and can put some quick combos together, but Hagler also has deceptively fast hands too..based on velocity.
In particular and this is just IMO of course, that Oscar would have had less stamina problems if he kept his footwork more economical.
