Is. It better to master the flashy mote complicated techniques, such as shuffling of the feet, bolo punches, etc.
Or is it better to master the basic techniques like Ezzard Charles?

I don't think there's anyone alive who would reccomend learning to throw an awesome bolo punch over sound fundamentals. If they are, they need to get the **** out of boxing.

Any good trainer will teach young, inexperienced students nothing but the fundamentals. What most people don't understand is, when watching someone like Floyd Mayweather and his Philly shell style and shoulder roll he performs so well, it's because it's an evolution of years and years of already mastering the fundamentals.

It's not like his uncle and father just from day one taught him to keep his hands down and throw the jab from his hip.

To be able to fight like a Sugar Ray Leonard of Floyd Mayweather takes years and years of boxing and being comfortable enough in the fundamentals.

It's like learning to pop a wheelie, you don't do that first without learning to ride the bicycle first.
