Yogi your list is good, except no way Conn higher than Jones. Jones had way more power and while Conn was fast-footed he was straightbacked and kept his chin high for Jones to KO him.

Originally posted by zooCharles was the greatest at the weight, too bad he didn't stick around and pick up the title.
Charles stay at LH was relatively brief; six years, too short, all told, for those times ('late 42 to 48) and his record in those years was respectable but not really superlative (31-3 with 19 KOs). But his having beaten Archie 3 times, (the last by KO in 46, 47 and 48) when both were real lightheavies, lends a lot of credence to any claim that he was and is the best among lightheavies. The fact that he also won three of four vs. Jimmy Bivins (a Hall of Famer) and went 2 of 3 against Lloyd Marshal (an outstanding LH of the day) adds to the arguement. Charles experienced his first and only KO in the hands of Marshall as a LH. Charles beat Joey Maxim 4 times, KOd Gus Lesnevich and beat Chjarles Burley twice.Last edited by grayfist; 12-31-2004, 10:02 AM.
