A prime Roy would beat him at 168

Hell IMO a prime Roy at 168 was the closest thing to being unbeatable as you can get. Too bad he didn't stay longer in that division.

I don't wanna hear he couldn't hurt Calzaghe. That's insane.

Don't even bring up the Calzaghe fight. Roy hadn't beat an elite fighter in 7 years. His speed was gone, his reflexes were gone, his trigger was gone.

      It was.

      .........................

      Yes he did...

Really, he should be worried about anything Roy would throw in his prime.

Actually to quote Joe Calzaghe himself.

"I could probably give Jones a tough fight, probably the best fight he's ever had," said Calzaghe. "But I know my capabilities and unless I got paid the crown ***els I wouldn't want to risk it."

Even Joe knew an ass beating was in store if took the fight.
Calzaghe obviously had great respect for JOnes, but Calzaghe didnt get dropped in his prime. When do yout hink his prime was? He was knocked down at 31. I think he was more prime around 28 or 29. His hands had gone by the age of 29. He stopped sparring, he went down early in fights as shock from being hit. He went down 4 times in a 46 fight career, twice in his last two fights in the first round, once in the second and ocne in the 4th. Ive boxed and maybe you have, and if you have you know that if you havent been hit in a while that first shot can really stun you. Thats what was happening to joe, he never got hurt, he just hadnt been hit since the fight before.

I also said I think Jones would be the one toss up fight. How anyone could say hed be beat by someone in the super 6 is beyond me. I wouldnt criticize jones, but I do think if they fought, even if Jones won, Calzaghe wouldnt be shut otu or anything. Joe would get his shots in at Jones, and maybe Joe would have to fight a more technical fight...something he refused to do against Kessler. I also think kessler hits very hard and Joe walked through those punches.

Im not saying Jones was bad at all, I just never saw him as a guy youd really worry about taking a shot from. He could hurt you, but Calzaghe in his prime never went down, there are other fighters at that weight I think hed fear more. Its more of a barrage of punches or being caught off balance by a RJJ left hook or something that Id worry about as a Calzaghe fan.
you are so annoying with your idiotic comments, your knowledge of this sport is zero and your burning my head out with them which is why i am not going to comment on your threads...go back to NSB where it is full of clowns like you who have never seen a boxing match in there lives yet come into the history section and claim Ali, Leonard, SRR & Jones Jr are 2nd class boxers compaired to British Tomato-Cans Hatton, Lewis & Calzaghe who was all terrified to fight a top contender who was under 35yrs old

Obviously prime Jones would be the fight we'd all want to see. And anyone coulda walked away from that, but I think Cal would have realized Jones couldnt hurt him and would have done much of the same stuff. In order to take Cal out, I think someone would have to be relentless, fearless. Theyd have to swarm him, otherwise, if he gets comfortable he is just too good.
I want to know what you smoke, because your Boxing History threads indicate clearly it is great great stuff, which most ppl do not have access to. Are you in law enforcement? Medical research?

A prime joe was rather early on in his career, around 27-29 and even then he had major hand problems. He was a master-class however and the only person who prob beat him would of been rjj back in the day.

But it never happened so why waste arguing about s.h.i.te.

I don't even think he could beat Dirrell or Ward of this era nevertheless prime Toney, Hopkins, and he would be lucky to kiss the floor prime Roy Jones walked on. He's a freakin clown that ducked Glenn Johnson numerous times. So that makes me think maybe even Froch or Abraham could even maybe knock him the **** out.
