  • Nicolino Locche vs. Takeshi Fuji

Fuji was a big puncher but had little boxing skill. Coming into the title defense against Locche, he was seen as the betting favorite. Fuji was embarrassed in front of the Japanese fans and was ridiculed for quitting by the media afterwards.

He had an exciting if short run at the top though with savage displays reminding of the old days of boxing. His style was to absorb his opponents' best punches, crowd them and throw punch after punch until they broke down. His wild right hand was his best punch, but he did not land it once on the elusive Locche.

That left hook was like a shooting gallery... incredibly explosive.

Almost half an uppercut some of the times.

He was incredibly relaxed in the ring.

If someone asks for top ten boxing clinic title fights, this is on that list and always will be. It was, and I don't use this word lightly, awesome.

Locche's one of the slickest boxers I've ever seen, it's too bad there's not that much available footage of him
