The best fighter to come out of my hometown... finished with a record of 105-18-1 with 64 knockouts. He retired for the last time at age 48. Could never win "the big one", but does hold a victory over a younger Micky Ward.

I do. He was really good. He did lose to alot good fighters but some, like his title fights with Roger Mayweather and Juan M. Coggi were really close fights. I could see an argument that he might have beat Mayweather. Alot of his bouts were televised by espn. A few were on national tv. He actually was one of the most televised fighters of that era.

I think he really broke into the big time when he beat top contender Robin Blake in a thrilling bout. But fought everbody and he was one of the most active fighters this side of Buck Smith. The level of his competition was much better than Smith's however.

Brazier was already locked to fight the Great Julio Cesar Chavez in 1991, can't recall what cancels the scheduled match but I think there were some issues then when Chavez had to give up the IBF belt, he instead fought former 140-pound champ Lonnie Smith.

Brazier nontheless fought Sweet Pea, Pernell Whitaker in a non-title bout the following year and lost by decision.

Yep, sure do. Great fighter with an excellent defense and technique. As everyone has said, always just missed out on the big one and each of those fights were usually with a very good champion.

Nonetheless, he gave us a lot of really exciting fights. His war with Mayweather was epic.
