I dont think he would of koed Chris, I would argue that Chris went down more from exhaustion then from Watson's punches.

Mike McCallum was a very well respected guy, Iv'e heard people say nothing but good things about him. James Toney gives him alot of respect as does Roy Jones Jr and Emanuel Steward also. I need to see this fight.
I dont know what the quality is like:

The peek-a-boo guard is pretty much useless against a skilled, consistent body puncher.

        Nasty knockout too.

Come now.The first Euank-Watson fight was about as close a fight between two evenly matched boxers as you'll ever find.

I couldn't see how anyone could honestly claim either man won more than seven rounds.

The Watson-benn fight was, atleast in my view, the greatest british domestic fight of the last twenty years.

Always enjoyed it more than Eubank-benn.

Yes, that Watson-Benn was a phenomenal fight. The crowd was as heated and boisterous as any crowd I have ever seen on television. The fight lived up to the atmosphere.

off topic:Just imagine if Benn had got past Watson and tried to fight McCallum the same way

Eubank Benn is a bit overrated imo, but Watson-Benn was a great fight

He mentioned during the post fight talk, that he had worked out Curry's fight pattern, his in and backing out motion, which allowed him to time him with that Left hook.

I also noticed a while back that he fights out of the classic boxing stance (like Walcott,Toney, Hopkins, Moore, Burley etc). He uses his left shoulder to deflect punches

Yes, a method also used by Floyd, Byrd and Ward. Excellent insight

                  Have you seen this vid?

It breaks down the classical stance as used by Charley Burley. McCallum claimed to be influenced by Robinson but I see more Walcott is his style then Robinson

I think this was filmed before his second fight with Toney

Don't forget that McCallum was also trained by two of the greatest trainers of all time, Eddie Futch and Manny Steward. McCallum was the perfect fighter to incorporate their geniuses. Yes, I agree that the Body Snatcher's style was more Walcott than Robinson. It is criminal that a 154 unification fight between Hearns and McCallum never occurred, as well as fights with Duran, Hagler, Nunn and Leonard.

I would give more credit to Futch than Manny, I have never been impressed with the defensive abilities of ANY Manny trained fighter. Also I think that McCallum most probably studied the old films and picked up tips, like Toney did

Manny didn't want McCallum-Hearns to happen after watching their sparring sessions together. Duran vacated his jmw belt to face Hearns. Hagler was only after big money fights, so he turned a blind eye. What happened with Nunn-McCallum? I know they were both MW champs at the same time, was there any talk about it happeneing?
