Like Ron said, whoever lands that big right first wins, I favor Shavers too.

Although they do belong in the fantasy fight section you're going to get a much better response out of people from here and the threads last longer in here also, more people tend to come here aswell, longer discussion.

Agreed. I rarely visit the Fantasy Fights section. It's not like the History section is flooded with activity, so the historical match-ups might as well be posted here.
This fight is essentially left hook vs right hand. Shavers had more big fight experience in his prime which would probably give him the slight advantage.
Lyle and Norton were shot to bits by the time they fought Cooney. I give Shavers more credit for flooring and nearly KO'ing a prime Lyle, and KO'ing Norton than I give Cooney.
i would go with Cooney to trap Shavers early like Quarry did and blitz him with left-hooks, Cooney`s height would enable him to cut off the ring and attack quickly to end this fight.
I think if Earnie lasts past round two, he could kayo Cooney, but in the proper scenario, Gerry would catch Shavers early and cold**** him in one round.
