Who is the greatest ambassador to the sport of boxing?

I was wondering as i dont really have in depth knowledge of anything but fighters and the odd coach.

I think Tyson did a great job during his heyday and after.
Toney is another good example for me.
But so many can be , Roy Jones is another , it's sort of a popularity comparison.
To me , the ideal boxer is a brutha out of the slams , who went through substance abuse and then converted to Islam during his time in prison.
So many inmates , so many converts , and the intersection is quite big as you know.

Joe Louis comes close. Fought regularly, was always respectful of his opponents. Never fought dirty, never gloated after winning and was pure business between the ropes!

Muahammad Ali was an ambassador to the sport of boxing in that he brought a fresh breath of new air to boxing, and making the sport much much bigger.

He brought alot more attention to boxing, and is responsible for fighters making alot more money.Mike Tyson and SRL thanked Muhammad Ali for the interest he brought to boxing and in effect gave them both higher pay days.

I always thought Arguello carried himself very well and going back Schmelling was a true gentleman and good human being. The category isn't imo about boxing ability more a matter of dignity

Yup, I would choose Max Schmeling or Archie Moore.

Can't believe I forgot Moore though he could get a bit "chatty" before fights before Ali took it to a whole new level
