In any era, Tony Tucker would be what he was, a journeyman heavyweight. He was nothing special and his career shows that, other than a win over Buster and an uppercut in the first round against Tyson, that he was a C level heavy. I put him a level below Bruno and Ruiz.

        ......

Tony Tucker was IBF Heavyweight Champion. And his record is better than Bruno's or Ruiz's. You must be confusing him with someone else. The man only lost 2 fights in his first 14 years, both of which were against ATGs. His third loss came on his 56th bout.

You must have him confused with someone else. The man was far from C level.

Tucker would've been, at the very least, competitive against today's heavyweights. Tucker in his prime was a very decent fighter with good hand speed, power and versatility. It's a shame that he's only known for his loss to Tyson.

Tony was the #1 amateur light heavyweight when he turned pro.He had good hand speed and very good boxing ability. However, he had that knee injury in that Danny Sutton fight that took him out for at least a year, and then had a drug problem that ruined any upswing that he could've had.Almost a year before Tyson, did a pretty decent job against James Broad, winning the USBA title.
