Shortest time to a world title.

The DLH ATG thread got me thinking.

Oscar won a world title after 1 year 3 months and 12 days as a pro.
Floyd Mayweather Jr, 1 year 11 months and 23 days.
Leon Spinks, 1 year and 1 month.
Mike Tyson, 1 year 8 months and 16 days.

The only people I can think of who when from pro debut to world title in less than 2 years. Is there anyone else?

Sadly out of all of those ppl, Tyson is the only one that did it legit. No medal needed.

Yeah it's definitely a lot harder to do it without a gold medal and all the hype that surrounds it. Mike did it by demolishing people in a devastating fashion.

I checked Wilfred Benitez but he was 2 years 3 months and 14 days, turned pro just 2 months after his 15th birthday.

Saensak Muangsurin 8 months after his pro debut. Jeff Fenech won a title 6 months after his pro debut.

Nice, now you're just showing off, lol.

Damn Fenech and Shingaki had a total of 16 pro fights when they fought for a title. Shingaki got his second world title shot after 7 fights, after getting knocked out in his first, now that's some serious pull.

yes Saensak Muangsurin and what a tough guy he was, he won the world title in his 3rd pro fight lost it in his 6th pro fight when he was claimed to have punched his opponent Spaniard Velazquez when he was on the floor and getting disqualified (Mangsurin was robbed) he then regained the title in 2 brutal rounds in the rematch.. he then defended it 7 times beating some excellent fighters in Guts Ishimatsu, Monroe Brooks and the slick Saoul Mamby before losing it to Sang Kim of Korea in an incredible war.. Saensak Muangsurin then went over to Detroit Michigan to fight unbeaten contender Thomas"the motorcity cobra"Hearns and took a frightful beating barely landing a single punch on his awesome opponent before getting stopped in 3rds.. he retired 3 fights later after only 20 pro fights.. Saensak Muangsurin suffered health problems including being blinded in one eye later in life, he died in 2009 from complications during a hospital operation.. he will always be remembered as one of Thailand`s greatest fighters and a brutal power-puncher.

his real name was Boonsong Mansri and was a Muay Thai champion before switching to pro boxing... R.I.P. Champ
