Well judging by the fight footage that exists of Wilde, he looks ridiculously crude, very heavy handed and very well conditioned. His record is terrific, but many of his victims were hardly ATG material (or even heard of!!!). The man fought much bigger opponents than himself so has to be commended on sheer bravery, toughness and determination. The poor guy ended up penniless!!

Historically he will, more than likely go down at a higher rated ATG than Floyd in the minds of many boxing scholers or historians. He is one of the true early legends of the lighter weights and to think he came from little old Wales rather than the gyms of the States is terrific.

But I dont think he was anything like as skilled as Floyd in retrospective.....though no less dominant over his many victims.

Wilde started his career 93-0-2 [8 ND]. He was lighter than a Strawweight but still managed to be the greatest Flyweight of all time. He did pretty good against Bantamweights too. Hard to pick against him. Most p4p greats grow into their higher weight divisions. He didn't so much. Stayed small, still dominated.

Jimmy Wilde has got to be the most over rated fighter in boxing history! people go on about how he use to knock out men twice his size! they were mostly drunken bums who didnt know what a jab was! ricardo lopez could of done the same thing! also wilde's resume is not that great! Mayweather is the easy pick here
