Who was better Nigel Benn or Chris Eubank?

Nigel Benn former commonwealth, WBo middleweight champ and WBC super middleweight champion. Benn started his career with many first round KO's. He had great heart, courage and main thing of all had great punching power. He could KO you with either hand. His best performance was when he beat Don King favourite McCellan. every one thought benn would be KO'd but benn put in one of the best performances to retain his WBC title. Benn held the WBC title from 92-96 great reign as champion. Benn never ducked anyone he went abroad and won 2 world titles and as ametuer he was a ABA champion. Benns worst peformance was when he was by Sugar Boy Malinga for his WBC title.

Chris Eubank former WBC intercontinental, WBO Middleweight champion and Super Middleweight Champion. Eubank started his career in america winning all his fights. He then came to england and started to make a name for himself by winning all his fights in style. Eubank had a great chin good boxing skills and showed alot of courage. His best performance was stopping benn to win the WBO middleweight title. Eubank was the underdog but showed good boxing skills to defeat Benn. Eubank was never beaten at middleweight and was a world champion from 90-95. He held a record defenced of his WBO championship (with now calzaghe has passed). Eubank fought many great fighters like Watson. But was mainly in boxing for the money and had many poor performances and took on lowly ranked opposition. Eubanks worst performance was against Steve Collins inwhich he lost his title and undeafeated record.

    So who was the better?

Well, Eubank to me has the better case. Benn was more entertaining to watch but if I'm being honest then Eubank was the marginally better fighter. He could box and brawl, whereas Benn could only brawl. Having said this, Benn's victory over a prime McClellan is one of the best performances in super middleweight history. But Benn did have trouble with boxers.

Eubank beat Benn once and drew with him once. Eubank also beat Watson and Watson beat Benn.

    So facts point to Eubank.

Both great fighters though...big characters and their rivalry was brilliant for the sport. It's what really got me in to boxing.

In terms of boxing skill I would have to go with Eubank. Resume wise they are very similar, as for legacy I think Benn may have left more of a mark on the psyche of boxing fans.

You think so? I actually admire Chris alot for that fight especially round 11, where he could of stopped Collins but chose not to, out of fear of repeating the Watson incident.

I dont think he would of stopped Collins. All Eubanks defeats he did fight good in but i thought the first Collins defeat was his worst.

Its been a while since I watched it, so I can really comment. What did you think of his fights with Carl Thompson?
Shame a fight with jones never happened, that would of been great.

Benn was shot by that point, he should of retired after McClellan as well.

I think the thompson fights were great. Eubank was unlucky in the first fight. And very unlucky in the 2nd he was winning on points but the eye was to bad and was stopped. Jones fight would of made eubank alot of money and would of been a gerat great fight for britain and the world. Would of like Toney and Eubank to fight.

I agree the McClellan fight affected him he should of retired after that fight. Would of also loved benn vs jones or toney.

Yeah I thought he deserved to get the nod in the first figt, he says in his autobiography that he took the rematch too soon and didnt give his eye enough time to heal. I think both of those fights where great as well

That would of been a very interesting fight, in fact its a 50/50 fight in who would of won. Toney moved up to lhw though after his Jones loss
