Lockridge should have won. He made a mistake by letting Gomez stay in there even though Wilfredo was on his last legs and could easily have been stopped. Gomez showed heart but he had very little left by 1985 at 130 lbs. It was proven in his next fight.

That makes no sense. So just because one guy shows heart and toughness he deserves to win a fight he lost? Does that mean Gatti deserved to win the fight against Floyd?

I do agree with GreatA that Lockridge let him stay in the fight and even win a few rounds at the end consecutively which was the only reason they were able to screw him over. Without those three rounds he would literally have lost nearly every single round. Still lost it by a wide margin.
