Both men were destructive fighters, both men were vulnerable at times and both men overcame those vulnerabilities. I think the fighters that they both fought are about on par as far as greatness and ability but the difference like the guy above me stated is that Arguello beat almost all of them. Hearns may have the better talent and ability but his weaknesses were also more glaring and caused his downfall multiple times.Comment

But back to topic, It's very close between them. Hearns does have wins against guys like Cuevas, Benitez, Duran, and some think he beat SRL in the rematch. Arguello had the better chin and never really suffered a loss like Hearns had when he was upset by Barkley in 3 rounds. Hearns did hold legit belts in 5 different weight classes and several paper titles at cruiser. Arguello to me has the edge as he beat champions and challengers of different eras as Olivares, Chacon,Limon, Mancini, Ramirez, Castillo. BTW, Castillo to many beat Salvador Sanchez and i saw that fight only once and scored it for Castillo. I give the slight edge to Arguello but just barely.
BTW, if anyone saw the COMPLETE fight with Marcel let me know if you thought it was a good decision? I saw some of the fight and the footage is quite bad but it looked like there was a lot of back and forth action and Arguello got the best of it.Comment
