I have become a fan of McCallum's over the last few years, just watching his old fights on youtube etc. So I only know him from those. I really like watching him. He was a great boxer, definitely more technically skilled than Calzaghe and I think he had a better resume than Joe. Calzaghe was never beaten though, which means a lot.

This is one of those tough ones which comes down to personal choice. I'm gonna go for McCallum, because I believe despite losing a few fights, he also defeated more high quality opponents than Calzaghe...although I believe the outcomes of his first two fights with Toney were fair...having watched them a few times. But they were extremely close fights, which is real impressive for a 35 year old against a prime Toney.

Both Calzaghe and McCallum both moved up to win the light-heavyweight title but McCallum came from light middleweight whereas Calzaghe came from super middleweight.

So I'll go for McCallum. Great fighter.

The Body Snatcher is underrated as all hell, so he certainly won't be remembered as the greater fighter when compared to Britain's favorite son (I recall McGuigan saying he was the best fighter of all time in some interview after Calzaghe's retirement, don't expect that kind of sentiment to fade fast).

No way Barry Mcguigan said Calzaghe was the greatest fighter of all time. I'm sorry, I'll only believe that when I see it *goes to google*

ability wise, accomplishment wise and resume wise mccallum takes about 49 ****s on calzaghe. valuev sized ****s.

even comparing calzaghe to the great mike mccallum is an insult not just to mccallum but to the sport itself.

OK, I found an article where Mcguigan said he's 'probably the best fighter Great Britain have ever had'.

*wipes brow* Got me worried there!

I like your favourite fighters list. Some class names there....but I believe you're a little bias towards McCallum.

You may not like Calzaghe's style as much as McCallum's but you should acknowledge a fighter who went unbeaten for 18 years.

Prime Mike McCallum was an excellent fighter. He fought the very best for a prolonged period whilst Calzaghe really only stepped up for the last 3 years of his career. Also prime McCallum would have been the best fighter Calzaghe would have ever faced.

McCallum SD win for me (and I'm a Calzaghe fan who went to a few of his fights) , didn't he demolish Steve Collins who beat twice Eubank before Calzaghe won the title off him? He also schooled Michael Watson ...

No, I wasn't exaggerating - he said greatest of all time due to beign undefeated and fighting everyone out there (his words), not just British (plenty of people have said the latter). This wasn't a print interview, I believe it was on youtube; but it's been quite a while since that time so it would be hard to find.
