Good list there, maybe throw Michael Spinks, BHop and Benetiz into the mix?
Couldn't believe you missed Arguello then checked when he made his debut!

Yes arguello began in the late 1960's, i don't think any of those fights are on film? I think the earliest fight of arguello that can be found is his fight with Marcel and even that fight is not well circulated.

You don't think Michael Spinks is in the top 20 best fighters over the last 40 years but you have Norris and Byrd in your top 10?
                  It's a view I guess.

I tend to make lists like this by first putting down every one I can think of who might belong there and then weed it down. I must admit I don’t pay attention to the lower weights so there is no one here lighter than Featherweight.

Second, apologies to the TS, but I’m going to include Alexis Arguello and Roberto Duran as *I* consider them to fighters from 1970+.

My TOP 5 in no particular order, and yes it's way more than 5 :-)

                    Sugar Ray Leonard
                    Roberto Duran
                    Alexis Arguello,
                    Bernard Hopkins
                    Roy Jones Jr.
                    Julio Ceasar Chavez
                    Marvin Hagler
                    Floyd Mayweather Jr.
                    Manny Pacquiao

And rounding out the TOP 10

                    Michael Spinks,
                    Larry Holmes,
                    Sweet Pea Whitaker

                    Honorable Mentions

                    Aaron Pryor
                    Tommy Hearns
                    Wilfred Benitez
                    Evander Holyfield
                    Felix Trinidad
                    Mike Tyson

(haven't seen them, as said above I don't particular watch the lighter weights -- but they were/are dominant)

                    Ivan Calderon
                    Ricardo Lopez
